Expert: Kyrgyzstan terminated the closure of Manas airbase, because still wants to bargain
Situation, when Kyrgyz parliament postponed the discussion of Manas air base lease cessation reminds by a number of the European states the Jewish anecdote about the people being in trouble but they still strife for bargain, — declared Yuri Solozobov, Russian political scientist, the expert on the problems of Central Asia on March, 3, in an interview to a REGNUM correspondent.
The possibility of such bargain had been there from the very beginning. It was an agreement not just with one country, but with more than ten states, and its consideration could be terminated at any stage. Such poor republic as Kyrgyzstan could not yield to temptation after the US encouraging statements on their readiness to increase the leasing for Manas,— believes the expert.
I think, the bargain will continue. The leaders of the Central Asian states are acting on very simple basis: to take from everyone, and then come to an equitable decision, -stressed Solozobov.
They will bargain over political support and implementation of humanitarian and economic projects. An economic situation in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is very difficult. They have electricity only a few hours a day. Humanitarian catastrophe is fully possible. That is why these regimes want to secure themselves, -assumed Yuri Solozobov.
As a REGNUM informed earlier, on March, 3, the Kyrgyz Parliament Committee terminated the consideration of package of bills, according to which Kyrgyzstan would break agreements with 11 European countries over Manas air base deployment. According to information of REGNUM, the country’s leadership has not come to a final decision yet. At the moment they had broken an agreement over the Manas lease only with the USA. Arm forces of Australia, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Turkey and France still can use the air base, deployed in Kyrgyzstan.
