Political scientist let in a possibility of coup in Russia

The country will face a coup, in case the Russian authorities will not overcome the consequences of global financial crisis, said Gleb Pavlovsky, the head of Effective Policy Foundation Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.

According to him, “if the question is about the sources of social protest in the country, one should look for them in the corridors of power”. Pavlovsky believes there is a small group of people in Russia who would like to commit a coup in the conditions of nowadays crisis. It is according to him, “partly a big business, people in high spheres of federal power, the Russian capital authorities, some of governors”.

As underscores Pavlovsky, now everything depends on the fact, whether Kremlin will able to overcome the crisis: “If not — it can lead to duplication of events of 1991 or Ukrainian event of 2004, when masses would be called to the streets”.
